Office of the Executive Mayor

What we do

Every day we strive to be the kind of government that all Capetonians can feel proud of. We are committed to creating an enabling environment for economic growth and job creation, delivering quality services to all residents, and serving the people of Cape Town as a well-governed and corruption-free administration.

Together, the members of this department are responsible for:

  • performance monitoring and evaluation;
  • strategic alignment of all City-wide policies and strategies;
  • mayoral research;
  • enhancing the City’s Capital Programme;
  • improving project management governance within the organisation;
  • coordinating the City’s international exchanges;
  • establishing international links; and
  • engaging with residents daily and facilitating service delivery and community requests.
We collaborate to ensure the alignment of the organisation to the strategic pillars, as set out in our Integrated Development Plan (IDP), to help create a:

  • safe city;
  • caring city;
  • opportunity city;
  • well-run city; and
  • inclusive city.

"Every day we strive to be the kind of government that all Capetonians can feel proud of. We are committed to creating an enabling environment for economic growth and job creation, delivering quality services to all residents, and serving the people of Cape Town as a well-governed and corruption-free administration.

"It is a privilege to lead the City of Cape Town team. Our purpose is clear - to build a city that makes every Capetonian and South African proud, and demonstrates the best of what our country is capable of. We commit ourselves to delivering excellent and reliable basic services, and investing in infrastructure, so that each resident has the basic services required for a life of dignity and opportunity.

"We will also go further than before to secure Cape Town's future for all of our residents. This means working towards energy security to end load-shedding in Cape Town, expanding the crime fighting policy space to keep communities safer, and building a reliable public transport system.

"Join us in making Cape Town the great, thriving city it deserves to be."
